AIM or MISSION:

The AIM of the Manufacturing Engineer is to plan, coordinate, and implement manufacturing engineering initiatives while being an individual technical contributor to projects and other engineering needs. The manufacturing engineer will work directly with product development and the production teams to bring new products to realization and improve existing manufacturing processes. The manufacturing engineer will ensure that the project will be completed on time and within budget according to schedule. The duties include tooling/fixturing design and the research and implementation of new applicable manufacturing technologies.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS:
  • Primary manufacturing expert for product development and operations.
  • Work with the product development team to realize new products from product concept to the shipment of finished goods.
  • Quote the manufacture and assembly of new products.
  • Work with production to develop and improve new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Select and purchase new equipment for improved manufacturing processes.
  • Complete time studies and create manufacturing standards for processes.
  • Complete tooling and fixture designs from 3D CAD models and provide models and/or drawings to the maintenance department or external vendors.
  • Communicate with the maintenance department and external vendors to design and develop facility equipment and tooling.
  • Oversee the initial build of new products and the implementation of new processes.
  • Provide training to manufacturing training to stakeholders to ensure that new products and processes meet standards.
  • Attend KATA meetings as a representative to provide support for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate with production supervisors on manufacturing, technical, safety, or quality issues they are experiencing, and address those issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate presented production issues to the proper channels (whether to vendors or to Veranda oversight).
  • Draft engineering change notices (ECN) and requests (ECR) with proper documentation and ensure information is communicated to all applicable parties.
  • Assist in compiling information and drafting work instructions, training materials, compliance documents, and other documentation.

Requirements

Education and other KSA's

Adept with Microsoft Office software suite

Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software

Proficient in project management software

Understanding of compliance standards

Understanding of lean manufacturing process

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an ABET accredited university.
