Position: Patient Services Representative
Pay Rate: $23/hr
Duration: 11 weeks
Expected Shift: Day 5×8-Hour (05:30 - 14:00)

JOB SUMMARY
Duties include but are not limited to answering phones, checking patients in, calling patients with schedule changes, preparing charts, ordering supplies

Performs reimbursement and analyses to ensure timely reimbursement of facility charges. Maintains files and makes sure all regulatory requirements for physician credentialing and privileging are current for applicable physicians. Ensures complete and accurate reporting to regulatory agencies. Maintains accurate patient demographics, obtains pre-authorization for patients and makes sure that all patients understand their pre-op/procedural instructions. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Maintains physician credential and privileging files to make sure all requirements are current and up to date.
  • Performs pre visit phone calls to ensure compliance and understanding of pre-op/procedural instructions in preparation for procedure.
  • Performs documentation audits to ensure optimal reimbursement and coding compliance within Federal and State regulations. Ensures timely submission of billing information for proper reimbursement.
  • Validates pre authorization for all patients to ensure that eligibility and insurance approval has been obtained.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of CMS regulations in relation to billing, coding compliance and credentialing.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Reviews and audits post-surgical transcription.
  • Notifies providers and maintain log for missing transcriptions.
  • Maintains accurate statistics and report data on time.
  • Transmits accurate and complete surgical data on quarterly basis.
Requirements
  • EDUCATION: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
  • TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:1 year recent relevant experience.
  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA) regulatory guidelines, insurance billing requirements, state and federal laws and regulations governing capitated, contractual and administrative write-offs, third party liabilities and bad debt.
  • Maintains knowledge and performs job duties in a manner consistent with Sutter Health policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory surgery center (ASC) regulatory guidelines, insurance billing requirements, state and federal laws.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Intermediate computer skills to include keyboarding, mouse movement and data entry skills to enter information into complex spreadsheets and electronic health records.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete assignments within the time allotted and maintain standard workflow.
  • Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner.
  • Verbal/written communication and active listening skills; including interpersonal skills and telephone communication.
