Technical Facilities EngineerBristol, VA Summary:Technical Facilities Engineers are responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities. This position includes responsibility for design, and planning for maintenance, improvements, capacity, and upgrades for the relevant systems. The Engineer is responsible for executing projects to augment and enhance the network, maintenance, repair, additions, alterations, and general upkeep of facilities and related equipment. They perform analysis of operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety processes, and recommend and implement improvements.Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for working on central office facilities, utilities, infrastructure, and related systems.Provide technical assistance and support to other teams for major systems improvements.Mentor coworkers in new technologyGathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports.Determining facility and equipment specifications.Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.Designing and overseeing the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.Create detailed engineering plans and drawings for peripheral 3rd party touch points for Central Office, Hut and Cabinet environments.Interpret general network diagrams and site survey information to determine placement of new equipment, parts required for installation, cables type and connections, power equipment needs.Create engineering work packages including scope of work, material lists, provisioning details, installation details, network diagrams and installation notes.Performs regular maintenance, repair, testing alignment, alterations and adjustment on all equipment including, but not limited to, generators, air conditioning, power conditioning and other equipment as needed.Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.Developing processing plans and optimizing resource allocation.Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities.Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.Test and maintain backup powering systems- including generators, uninterruptible power supplies, and temporary feeds.Preparing reports and compliance documentation.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering preferred.Experience with central office installation, maintenance, and repair workExperience with AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office.Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.Strong understanding of various engineering practices and procedures required.Optical network installation and implementation experience required.Knowledge of current architectures being deployed Metro Ethernet, xPON, DWDM, Active E or XGS PON.Strong knowledge of Adtran/Calix access and transport systems a plusKnowledge of industry standards and best common proceduresKnowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.Good verbal and written communication skills.Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Project management skills.Must be proficient in at least one of the following skill sets: HVAC operations and maintenance; AC/DC power systems to include UPS, rectifier, batteries, and generator back up power systems; modern FTTX systems and typical optical architectures and associated materials; facility and grounds maintenance.Benefits:Medical (3 plans to choose from), Dental and VisionShort Term Disability Flexible Spending AccountsCompany Paid Life as well as Voluntary policies401(k) with generous company matchPaid Time OffShare the Care Paid Time OffPaid HolidaysUniform/Boot allowance *Applicable by Position*Cell Phone Allowance *Applicable by Position*Career Progression OpportunitiesDiscounted Broadband Services *Where Applicable* Point Broadband is an equal opportunity employer.
