POSITION SUMMARY

Interns execute programs in multiple business function areas as assigned by their manager. An intern will learn to work in the telecommunications industry in specialty areas such as: finance, operations, data analysis, media relations, publicity, marketing, web development, information technology, human resources, sales, and customer service. Interns will assist with all tasks required in a busy telecommunications company such as answering phones, proofreading, editing web pages, handling mailings, interviewing customers, data analysis, customer communications, coordinating events, and working on media pitches and materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Applies research techniques and analytical methods to the study of administrative systems, organizational structures, policies, and procedures for assigned department.
  • Assists in conducting special studies in conjunction with a project, analyzes data.
  • Composes, types, and prints reports, general letters, spreadsheets, e-mail, and memoranda from rough drafts or general instructions, involving the assembly of data from computer and paper file or record sources.
  • Assists management with internal and external research. Assist with creation and execution of initiatives stemming from research.
  • Analyzes, generates, and maintains records and other reference material necessary for departmental use.
  • Provides information and assistance to internal or external customers.
  • Prepares project reports, progress summaries, statistical analysis, and related data.
  • Assist management with project assignments, research and analysis.
  • Answers and makes phone calls, responds to program related questions, and sends written material as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Communication Skills - Successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Position will require frequent preparation and delivery of detailed plans and proposals. Strong communication/interpersonal skills with emphasis on decision-making, conflict management, and team building and teamwork. Must have ability to develop work plans, work effectively as a member of a team, report on status of projects, and represent the team in meetings and/or with the client, and be able to coordinate issues identification and resolution between clients and the development team.

Ability to communicate with customers effectively, on a proactive basis, and manage the communication process. SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education/Experience: Currently accepted, enrolled, and attending an accredited college in a baccalaureate degree program while maintaining an academic load of at least ten credit hours per semester (eight credit hours per quarter); AND In good standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher; AND Have successfully completed training as a College Intern I or 88 hours of coursework in the degree program of which at least 24 hours were upper division coursework in a declared major.

Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
