Training Development Manager

The Training Development Manager is responsible for creating best-in-class training, development, and activation programs for the SONIC system that leverage a blended learning approach and utilize multiple modes of delivery and technology. This individual works closely with SONIC and Inspire cross-functional teams, including SONIC Operations Services, Field Training, Field Operations, HR, Food Safety, Inspire Company Restaurants, and others to ensure training programs and objectives are aligned with company goals and objectives. This individual also collaborates with Subject Matter Experts, Franchisees, and Franchise Team Members to develop, test, implement, and enhance training programs and operational tools.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Create role-based, blended learning solutions for company-owned and franchised drive-ins. Content to include hands-on learning, eLearning, video, job aids, manuals, and group training sessions.
  • Design, develop, and implement engaging training and activation programs that focus on the guest experience through excellence in operations.
  • Maintain all training and activation programs to ensure content remains current and relevant.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with brand and enterprise teams to develop relevant, engaging content for drive-in team members.
  • Foster and cultivate strong company and interdepartmental communications. Build effective relationships and establish professional credibility with all levels of the organization.
  • Support company strategic initiatives and rollouts through training development and implementation.
  • Design in-house scalable solutions partnering with Operations Services and Field Team that include a blended approach such as coaching, workshops, and on-the-job training.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4 Year Degree in Restaurant Management, Human Resources, Instructional Design, or related field
  • 5-10 years Restaurant Operations, Training or Industry experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of restaurant operations (SONIC Drive-In experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to use instructional design principles and adult learning theory to develop engaging learning materials
  • Deep understanding of effective training strategies with experience developing and executing Training Programs
  • Proven ability to develop learner-centered instructional materials including documents, job aids, guides, videos, and eLearning modules for group and self-study
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects to completion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills; strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Word and PowerPoint and intermediate skills in Excel.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System (Cornerstone preferred)
  • Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva)
  • Ability to Storyboard and write scripts
  • Ability to work well independently and with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment
