Job Description
The Human Resource Generalist (HRG) is expected to assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties in the agency in order to meet the vision and mission of the organization. The Human Resource Generalist duties and responsibilities can change regularly based on needs of the agency. This is an exempt position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for recruitment, creates and moderates social media posts, agency website updates, employment advertising content and updates, application and interview processes, background checks, orientation, and coordinating with the Services and Supports Director, the Training Specialist, the Day Services Coordinator, the Residential Services Director, and the Assistant Residential Director to provide seamless onboarding and constant support for staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Handles employee relations and retention, disciplinary action and exit interviews.
  • Assists in improving employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems, evaluating potential solutions, coaching and counseling employees.
  • Protects organization's information and maintains the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Complies with and administers required federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with labor and employment laws and personnel policies.
  • Provides information by answering communications; referring communications to appropriate person.
  • Administers employee counseling and disciplinary paperwork as assigned.
  • Assists Executive Director with residential performance evaluations written by supervisors.
  • Oversees implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and record keeping systems related to human resources.
  • Meets on a regular scheduled basis to strategize with Executive Director for updates about departments.
  • Serves on committees as assigned or desired.
  • Participates in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Completes and meets training requirements of the agency.
Employee Recruitment, Orientation and Training Duties:
  • Manage job descriptions, making required updates or edits.
  • Tracks position vacancies; writes and posts job advertisements while actively working to recruit applicants.
  • Works as liaison with Department of Labor Office and other entities when vacancies need to be filled.
  • Pre-screens/Interviews applicants in accordance with organizational recruitment procedures, monitors recruitment processes by hiring managers and facilitates training for best practices in recruitment.
  • Makes offers of employment approved by hiring managers and ensures approval paperwork is in place.
  • Manages pre-employment, post-offer employment activities during recruitment including: performing background checks, overseeing drug testing, and maintains contact with clinic lab.
  • Performs onboarding with new employees, collecting employment paperwork, and maintaining employee files.
  • Ensures employee completion of online and in-person orientation training and that required paperwork is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with agency, state and governmental rules and regulations.
  • Maintains employee records and human resource database through data entry.
  • Updates orientation training curriculum.
  • Maintains and updates organization's website.
  • Coordinates volunteers' assignments and follows agency policies and procedures regarding volunteers.
  • The Human Resources Generalist will assume additional responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Human Services, Health Care Administration, Psychology, Education, or Social Work. Master's degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in management competencies.
  • Three or more years supervisory/management experience in long-term and/or residential settings preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; listens accurately and responsively, read and understand written instructions.
  • Responds to communication and email in timely manner and reviews Therap daily.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, email, and phone systems, etc.) for required documentation, communication, scheduling and other assessments.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop and implement goals and objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Willingness to take initiative and adapt to circumstances and work independently.
  • Ability to complete all ARSD training requirements within the required time.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, which may include working weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language adequately to respond to individual's needs.
  • Holds a valid driver's license and maintains a safe driving record to travel between multiple sites.
  • Pass a background check that meets policy.
  • Pass a post-offer drug test with negative results.
