StataCorp is seeking an experienced backend developer to work on our flagship product, Stata. Stata is used by hundreds of thousands of researchers of all disciplines and provides features for all their data science needs: data manipulation, visualization, statistics, and automated reporting.

Job duties

  • Working with a team of statisticians, econometricians, and programmers on all aspects of the design and use of Stata
  • Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
  • Design, develop, and document AWS, Azure, and GCP API CLI/CDK codebase
  • Deliver production-ready code by containerizing the application and integrating with a CI/CD pipeline
Skills and requirements

  • Must be able to work in-house at our College Station, TX, headquarters
  • Experience in one of the following languages: Java, Python, SQL, PHP, .NET, and Ruby
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Experience in API development and building internal tools
  • Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Knowledge of database and relational mapping for the data to be accessible
  • 3+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in a STEM field
Note that the candidate should be knowledgeable in one or more applied fields of statistics and be willing to broaden that knowledge. Stata is a general-purpose statistical package used by researchers of all disciplines, and senior development people are expected to work in multiple fields, including fields outside their specialty.
