Little Rock, Arkansas, United States Oracle Full time
About the Company and Team

Oracle Energy and Water is a leading technology provider empowering utility companies and other energy innovators around the world to serve their consumers.

Our team strives to ensure that every global citizen has access to clean and affordable energy and water.

About the Job

We're looking for an experienced senior cloud native software engineer for our engineering incubator team.

You'll be part of a team of experienced engineers who are building a next-generation platform for the energy industry with a heavy focus on massive data volume processing.

Our new platform is built directly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) based on cloud native principles.

As a senior software engineer, you'll be responsible for building world-class software, leveraging automation whenever possible, mixed with many opportunities to contribute to the definition of early stage products.

Responsibilities
  • You'll create software that's used by the world's largest utilities as well as other innovative companies in the energy space.
  • You'll be part of a product development team for new energy products.
  • You'll contribute to ideas for how to architect our platform for scale.
  • You'll be able to apply your expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in highly available distributed systems.
About You

We're looking for someone with 3+ years of hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud).

You should have 2+ years of experience building and delivering large scale, highly available distributed systems.

Solid experience with Linux is required.

Experience troubleshooting complex software and/or networking issues is a plus.

Knowledge on cloud computing architecture, primarily Identity, Compute and Networking, is a must.

Development skills utilizing Terraform, Python, Shell, and SQL are required.

Deep experience with continuous deployment tools is a plus.

Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technology is a plus.

You've built rich tools and web apps for use by your team and other internal customers.

You've made life easier for other developers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate and instrument properly to get the right data.

You are comfortable working at all levels of the technical stack.

You work backwards from the why. You care about creating reliable software that solves real problems.

You value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

You work well with everyone. You can lead a conversation in a room with engineers, managers and customers.

You are comfortable with ambiguity. You have a strong sense of ownership, and are able to drive projects to completion.
