Responsible for independently and directly coordinating resource and budget management for each project with campus administrative units, CA&ES leadership, and end-user stakeholders. Serve as primary Facilities Management resource for CA&ES Dean, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Chief Administrative Officers, and faculty providing excellent service and support across the college by proactively identifying and facilitating deferred maintenance and correction of building defects. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of organization and proactiveness. Experience in a formal client-side representative role in construction or renovation projects, assuming leadership roles in teams, and effectively handling challenging dialogues. Proven ability to develop, monitor, and administer budgets, with a proactive approach to controlling project costs. Proficiency in reading and understanding conceptual diagrams, designs, and layouts, along with experience using project management tools and software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, Visio, or Excel for Gantt charting and diagramming. Preferred Qualifications Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification, or documented similar experience and education. Expert or certified in project management tools and software such as Gantt charting and diagramming using Microsoft Project, Primavera, and Visio or Excel chart tools. Five or more years of experience as a project management professional in the building design, renovation, construction, or facilities industry. Experience working with campus units in a UC setting to deliver large and/or complex construction projects. Experience performing process analysis and optimization using current best practice workflow analysis tools and methodologies. CA&ES has more than 1.4 million assignable square feet of teaching, research and administrative space with off-site research and teaching space throughout California. The majority of facility renovations are very complex and highly technical, requiring quickly developing a working knowledge of unique program requirements sufficient to translate functional requirements to project scope. Further technical challenges often involve incorporation of animal and/or plant needs requiring the ability to quickly identify and marshal the necessary resources to ensure that labs, field spaces, teaching spaces and greenhouses are designed as per governmental regulations and campus policies.
