Responsibilities :Manage and oversee the accounting operations of the School, including all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, to ensure accuracy and full compliance with appropriate GAAP standards.Handle the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process.Ensure the accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions, in compliance with applicable accounting guidelines.Monitor and analyze financial accounting data, and use it to create financial reports.Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations of the school's financial statements.Closely monitor income and expenses.Participate in the preparation and management of the annual budget.Advise administrators of budget account balances, resolve problems and discrepancies, and make revisions as necessary, in compliance with established policies and procedures.Review budget to actual on a monthly basis.Assist in managing the daily operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process.Assist in the preparation required for the annual audit, 403B audit, and annual tax filings.Handle sensitive personal and business information in an environment that demands absolute and complete confidentiality.Assist Director of Finance with a variety of complex projects and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The Accounting Manager should exhibit a curious mindset and a strong desire for continuous learning, particularly regarding business processes and their influence on financial outcomes. The Accounting Manager should also be a self-starter with the capacity to independently lead and execute projects with minimal direction. They must have the ability to multi-task and see complex projects through to completion. The Accounting Manager must be able to work collaboratively and harmoniously with peers in an educational setting; to be flexible in adapting to growth and change; to be constantly and independently pursuing improvements in business and operational efficiencies and must maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor. High attention to detail with robust problem-solving and organizational skills to ensure precision in financial management is a must. Federal and State background clearance is required for this position.

Specific Knowledge and Skills:Proven working experience as Accounting Manager or Finance ManagerAdvanced Excel skills are required.Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.High attention to detail and a passion for accuracyAbility to learn quickly and be resourceful in problem solving.Ability to use database applications to organize and manage complex datasets.Experience using Blackbaud accounting products is preferred but not required.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a variety of settings and with a wide range of people.

Working Conditions.

Environment:• Office environment with no secretarial/administrative support.• School buildings and grounds with variable temperature and noise levels.

Physical Demands:• Operate office equipment - extensive keyboarding.• Read handwritten documents and other records or reports.• Exchange information in person, via electronic mail or on the telephone.• Sitting and using a computer for extended periods of time.• Some light lifting, carrying, bending.

Working Relationships:

Ability to maintain confidential and positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, school and community organizations, vendors, and the general public.

Applicant Requirements . Bachelor's degree required. College course work in accounting, business administration, finance, and/or other related fields is preferred. More than 5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager, preferably in a school environment, required. CPA preferred but not required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
