About the team

Cognite's Legal team is responsible for providing legal advice to all of the company's business and corporate activities as well as handling the corporate compliance function. We are seeking a Legal Counsel located in either Oslo (Norway), Austin (US), or Bangalore (India) that will report directly to Cognite's General Counsel.

Focus Area - Software and Services Contracts

The role will entail providing legal assistance related to Cognite's overall activities with the main focus on:

- Contracts

- Support all business departments with various legal tasks

Some of the main responsibilities will be:
    • Prepare, draft and negotiate various types of contractual documents with a focus on software licensing and related services
    • Working with legal tech tools to automate the legal department
    • Participate in tender preparations, clarifications and negotiations
    • Provide legal support related to follow up and handling of all contracts
    • Assist with the implementation and enforcement of internal company policies
    • Deal with complex commercial and business matters
    • Ad-hoc support of other staff functions such as finance, corporate development and P&O.
We are looking for someone with the following background
    • Master's degree in law
    • Minimum 3 year relevant legal experience (in-house legal department, private law firm or relevant authorities), preferably from the technology field
    • In depth experience with contract drafting and negotiations with respect to IT contracts, services contracts, license contracts etc.
    • Practical and commercial mindset
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Ability to work independently and efficiently, often with tight deadlines, with understanding of the legal in-house role
    • Positive attitude
    • Good negotiation skills
    • Fluent in English
