The person in this role must be a Christ-centered team player that can lead the people of our parish to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ by living a sacramental life and learning to be a disciple. Leads the parish discipleship and sacramental program and provides leadership to assist the parish community in building a solid faith foundation for children and adults. The Director of Discipleship and Sacraments provides vision, communication, expectations, and coordination of the sacramental preparation programs for all members of the parish. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision and direction of all Faith Formation staff members.
- Responsibility for annual budget of the department.
- Oversee mentor and catechist development.
- Oversee the development of all Faith Formation curriculum.
- Actively involved in the creation of curriculum for the parish youth-based Confirmation program.
- Member of Staff Leadership Team (SLT).
- Lead Adult Faith Formation and oversee specific ministries (examples included)

- Create a missionary disciple vision for ministry and programming.
- Implement and oversee outreach to inactive Catholics and those who do not know Jesus, (Goal 4 Mission Plan)
- Develop missionary discipleship pathways where the goal is active involvement in the community of faith thus transforming people, families, and communities.
- Supervise and support compelling formation experiences and events with all Bible studies, small group discipleship, the prayer ministry, parish missions, and conferences.
- Supervise and support (RCIA), Marriage Prep, and Baptism Prep teams and programming.
- Collaborate with the Pastor to align sacramental planning with the overall goals, objective, and mission of the parish.
- Work closely with the Pastor to create a unified vision between sacramental preparation and formation programs.
- Work with coordinators for sacramental parent events and assist and participate in sacramental retreats.
- Continue spiritual and professional development for renewal.
- Collaboration with parish team and lay leaders on parish wide activities and mission planning.
- Seek input from parents and parish members.
- Adapt to pastoral situations as they arise.
- Communicate effectively with staff, parish, and school community and establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Possess a sensitivity to people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, etc.
- BA or MA in Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field.
- 2 or more years of faith formation/religious education experience in a parish.
- Knowledge and understanding of the New Evangelization methodology and best practices with the goal of intentional discipleship.
- Proven ability in developing a vision and creating initiatives designed to meet the needs of the parish culture that are consistent with our mission, including methods to assess the success of the programs and offerings.
- Must be a practicing Catholic; a member in good standing of a Catholic parish within the Diocese of Green Bay; single, ordained, a professed religious, or in a sacramental marriage; and have a strong faith commitment, dedicated to Gospel values and living a life of prayer and service.
- Understanding of catechetical processes as they pertain to youth, young adults, and adults.
- Must be equipped with a working knowledge of event planning, program management, and communication.
- Must be efficient in transforming big ideas into a realistic ministry.
- Strong personal relationship with Jesus and a deep love for His Church.
- Fully aligned with the teachings of the Church and passionate about the parish mission.
- Leadership and administrative skills, decision-making skills, program development skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be comfortable speaking in large and small group settings to both adults and children.
- Thrives in a team environment.
- Lead and influence others and possess an apostolic heart.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, the Internet, and all basic office equipment is required.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities as required.
- Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills. A self-starter, emotionally intelligent, and a humble individual.
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines.
