You will design products to meet customer needs, product quality, manufacturability, new product development, prototype builds, testing, and may serve a project manager role for smaller development projects. You will develop the product designs necessary to drive product improvement and will be integral in securing present and future business by consistently meeting or exceeding Voice of Customer requirements. Solve complex problems where analysis of a situation is required in order to meet the requirements of the customer. Serve as the technical lead role for product lines or new development projects. Work with Sales and Customers to ensure designs meet customer expectations.Job Duties Lead the design and development of thermostat enclosures and home-comfort systems. Work with other mechanical engineers and manufacturing engineers to ensure components are optimized for manufacturing, including automated assembly, Poka-Yoke design principles, and tolerance stacks. Collaborate with electronics engineers to integrate PCBAs into mechanical enclosures. Collaborate with other technical teams, including Firmware, Simulation, and Quality to optimize product designs Create and maintain technical documentation, including DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis), BOMs (Bill of Materials), and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) Design and prototype enclosures using CAD software, considering factors such as material selection, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct testing and validation of sensor enclosures and airflow systems, analyzing performance metrics and addressing any issues or deficiencies through iterative refinement and optimization. Drive innovation in comfort-sensing technology through research, experimentation, and evaluation of emerging technologies and industry trends.We Value Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product development Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design. Proficiency in 2D drawings, critical-to-function dimensions, and tolerance stacks. Experience with enclosure designs and manufacturability techniques for mechanical components in confined spaces. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and optimize performance for efficiency and reliability.
