Position Description:
The Applications Engineer will deliver expert technical support to our North American superabsorbent polymer customers. This role involves managing multiple priorities to support the sales team in maintaining customer relationships, securing new business opportunities, and identifying potential growth areas.
Responsibilities:
- Analytical Testing and Reporting: Conduct a range of analytical laboratory tests on waste materials, summarizing and presenting findings to sales teams and customers to support informed decision-making
- Product Training and Onsite Support: Deliver comprehensive onsite training for end users in manufacturing and construction settings, focusing on the correct usage and handling of our client's products.
- Competitive Product Analysis: Gain in-depth knowledge of competing products through performance testing and documentation. Leverage data to create detailed technical product comparisons for sales and marketing efforts.
- Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Develop a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to environmental remediation and our products. Keep documentation current, mapping regulations to customer needs and product capabilities. Present findings to the Sales Director to help shape territory strategies, market penetration, and business objectives.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work in close coordination with plant personnel, sales, R&D, and customer service to ensure alignment with customer expectations and successful project outcomes.
- CRM and Documentation: Maintain accurate and updated CRM entries for all technical calls, customer visits, business opportunities, and project profiles to ensure seamless communication across teams.
- Industry Representation: Attend and present at company-sponsored meetings and training sessions, serving as a knowledgeable representative of our products and expertise.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and gain the trust of new and existing customers across diverse settings.
- Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven negotiation capabilities.
- Organizational & Decision-Making Abilities: Highly organized with sound judgment and strong decision-making skills.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to effectively deliver sales and educational presentations to engineering firms and industry professionals.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Business Administration required. Candidates without an engineering background must have at least 5 years of experience in a technical support role.
