We are seeking a passionate Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of timely and accurate monthly journal entries and reporting. They will also be responsible for recording receivable payments and the collection process. In addition, they will support the Controller with the monthly close, annual audit, budgeting/forecasting, reporting and other related accounting tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of CORA Services, which includes valuing all individuals, supporting the individual's potential for growth, and enhancing a pragmatic service system approach.
  • Work with the Finance Department and with organizational staff to maintain timely and accurate records of business activities in support of the mission, vision, and values of CORA Services.
Monthly/Annual Close
  • Prepare monthly workpapers for approval by the Controller and support reconciliation efforts for accuracy of activities.
  • Review and prepare journal entries for approval by the Controller.
  • Support the monthly close and invoicing process along with quarterly and annual close processes.
Cash/Asset Management
  • Record assets purchased for specific departments/programs in fixed assets module and record depreciation.
  • Prepare and enter cash deposits and support review of the daily bank balances.
  • Prepare and Record bank related journal entries and maintain support documentation for banking activities and statements.
  • Record and apply payments through accounts receivable module of Financial Edge Blackbaud software.
Payroll:
  • Review bi-weekly payroll journal entry for accuracy.
  • Work with Payroll Manager to review and maintain payroll reporting.
  • Work closely with Controller to reconcile payroll accounts to ensure accurate monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Process payroll in absence of the Payroll Manager.
Budgets/Forecasts:
  • Support reporting needs in budget/forecast preparation for departments and programs.
  • Support maintenance of the budget within the financial system(s).
  • Assist preparation of monthly reporting used for monthly budget analysis and review; Prepare corrective adjustments as needed.
Audit:
  • Support annual financial audit and preparation of the 990.
  • Prepare information and support during the annual audit process.
  • Prepare information per request for funders during program audits.
Other:
  • Work closely with the Controller to monitor and maintain best practices of day-to-day financial activities.
  • Serve as administrative support for financial software packages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned as needed.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required. CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • At least 5 years of accounting or related experience
  • Not-for-profit, mission driven organizations experience preferred
  • Extensive and comprehensive experience with Accounting and Financial Software packages; Financial Edge and UKG experience preferred
  • Experience with medical billing preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong time management and analytical skills, and ability to drive process improvement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with staff at all levels of the agency, as well as clients, visitors, vendors, interns and peers from other organizations.
