POSITION SUMMARY

Performs skilled administrative and technical onboarding work (not actual recruiting) in the Recruitment section of the City's Human Resources Department of a specialist nature often involving complex work methods and techniques primarily consisting of processing the onboarding of employees utilizing the NeoGov onboarding software system. Prior onboarding experience in a Human Resources environment is highly desired.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.   • Exercises initiative to positively and effectively address customers' needs in a timely and courteous manner positively and effectively
  • Greets visitors and employees, answers the general phone line and intercom for the Department, and responds to requests for information
  • Assists walk-in applicants and employees with employment, payroll, benefit and time-keeping questions
  • Initiates, tracks, and coordinates orientation, as well as criminal background checks, reference checks, educational verification and driver's license checks with vendors; and coordinates/schedules medical and drug-screening exams as necessary with appropriate healthcare facilities
  • Maintains various tracking logs of new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers or assignment changes
  • Performs E-Verify checks for new hires and ensures checklists are completed for employees and all appropriate items are included in the personnel file
  • Responsible for issuing employee ID badges; submits required information to appropriate security personnel for building access
  • Enters personnel actions in payroll system (new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers, and position assignment changes); responsible for correcting errors related to personnel actions
  • Participates in other recruitment activities as needed, including interaction with applicants as required; provides information to applicants regarding job opportunities and explains employment process
  • May organize mass drug testing and tine test readings for summer hire process
  • Backup for other HR onboarding staff as necessary
  • Performs related work as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  2. At least one (1) year performing intermediate level administrative work, preferably employee onboard processing work in a Human Resources environment.

Preferences:
  • Experience processing the onboarding of employees in a Human Resources environment highly preferred
  • Experience using NeoGov or a similar Applicant Tracking System for onboarding
  • Experience with Infor or a similar HRIS/payroll system
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, especially Word and Excel
  • Detail-oriented and efficient at multitasking


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency but may be required to work in some capacity after the declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods of time.
