Technical Support Supervisor

Job Description

The Technical Support Supervisor is responsible for managing the implementation, integration, enhancement and maintenance of diverse applications and systems by ensuring the highest reliability and performance.

Employee has direct supervisory responsibility for one employee.

Essential Duties

Work with other Directors and Managers throughout the organization as well as other IT areas (Operations, Network Services, GIS, and Applications) to ensure customer support needs are addressed as efficiently and effectively as possible

Troubleshoots routers, switches, firewalls, servers access points, and other network connections.

Analyzes and mitigates potential impacts to network services

Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, tape libraries, and other components

Work with Enterprise Operations Manager to ensure maximum up time during any system or software change, test, upgrade, repair or vendor maintenance issuesProvide guidance and assistance to staff and department users in the development, implementation and maintenance of systems and applicationsEnsure delivery of public safety technology solutions and services supporting Public Safety's strategic direction and/or technology roadmap(s)Work with the IT Operations Manager to ensure needs are metMonitors and assigns work orders

Installs, maintains and troubleshoots Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's) and communications with Bell County Communications

Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Management or related of study; and

Five (5) years of experience in Information System; with at least three (3) years of experience in technology services at a leadership level; or,

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess a valid driver's license or obtain one by date of hire.

Supplemental Information

* Proficient with installing, upgrading, repairing, and troubleshooting enterprise level critical software and systems; * Experience in design and systems interoperability with multiple operating systems; * Skill in working with and maintaining AS/400 hardware andsoftware; * Skills in developing enterprise information technology to meet customerneeds; * Ability to align enterprise information technology solutions with customer'sneeds; * Knowledge of managing life cycle of enterprise informationtechnology; * Skills in strategic planning for enterprise information technologysolutions; * Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and inwriting; * Ability to establish successful working relationships;and * Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
