Job Summary

The Accounting Clerk I is responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the Accounting Department personnel.Maintain accounting document files, including daily work and accounts payable.Key daily worksheets to the general ledger system, print accounts payable checks and inserts them into appropriate envelopes for mailing.Assists accounting personnel as required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assumes responsibility for performing assigned accounting and related clerical support functions.
  • Maintain files, including filing of general ledger journal vouchers, accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous filing.
  • Review credit card management expense reports and approve disbursements for cash expense reports.
  • Prints daily accounts payable checks and inserts checks and invoices into envelopes for mailing.
  • Maintain and enter monthly pre-paid journal entries and sales tax tracking.
  • Assumes responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and with management.
  • Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions.
  • Travel daily to Post Office to collect mail and disburse throughout departments.
  • Assist Accounting Personnel as needed.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
  • Types a variety of documents, reports and records.
  • AR Data entry.

Qualifications

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • One (1) year experience in a financial institution, accounting department, or similar field.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (QuickBooks).
  • Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Establish a good working relationship with team members and internal contacts in order to maintain and continuously strive to improve the level of overall service being provided.
  • Project management experience, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Skills
  • Effective professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)

Clearance
