Key Responsibilities :
Provide overall management of an electrical generation facility producing energy for the grid.
Ensure the continuous operation of facility, 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. Manage an on‐call schedule for employees including nights ,weekends and holidays to keep engines running continuously to serve customers.
Decrease major overhaul costs using knowledge of managing and maintaining heavy equipment and CAT products.
Perform preventative engine maintenance on natural gas, large bore, prime power Caterpillar generators at site using various tracking software, OEM maintenance guides and mechanical expertise.
Manage maintenance cycles to ensure engines and all ancillary equipment (pumps, compressors, valving, sprayers, intake river screens etc.) remain running to meet up‐time targets.
Create an extensive spare parts inventory by assessing which critical items are needed to ensure downtime for the entire plant is minimized.
Source and order critical spare parts for the entire plant and maintain adequate inventory levels to ensure sufficient supplies (especially during weekends/holiday periods).
Perform invoice management and conduct purchasing activities using accounts payable software.
Manage a robust safety program and protocol. Ensure employee safety during maintenance and outage events.
Keep all records, including but not limited to engine log, gas usage log, REC log and engine uptime calculations.
Generate monthly thermal report.
Analyze equipment downtime data and create continuous improvement programs to prevent similar future mechanical failures from reoccurring.
Work with Accounting department to generate yearly budget and CAPEX proposals.
Support performance of regular internal records audits.
Perform plant site upkeep and maintenance.
Supervise one (1) employee (Engine Mechanic).
Complete arc‐flash training and hazard recognition/workplace safety program training within 3 months of hire.
Work M‐F 8am to 5pm (EST) and on call year‐round for unplanned outages as needed.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (any field) and ten (10) years of experience, or in lieu of a degree, will accept twelve (12) years of experience.
Experience must include (w/degree 10 years or without degree 12 years) in the following: management of Caterpillar heavy equipment operation to optimize uptime and operation; utilizing knowledge of SIS software for parts procurement; forklift and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) experience; utilizing knowledge of ET software for engine management.
Requires heavy duty equipment mechanic or CAT technician certification.
