Position Summary:

Provide expertise in the area of automation technology within the organization. This position is responsible for all phases of large-scale assigned process or manufacturing improvement projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost. Implements process improvements to meet quality standards, designs and conducts feasibility studies, and solves problems. Creates necessary documentation and aides in communication to Team Members. May serve as a resource to other engineers and coordinate all work within the scope of assigned projects. Maintain a knowledge base of automation systems and computer hardware/software packages for the implementation of automation in the manufacturing processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate automation control system integration between manufacturing and control system vendor(s). Develop relationships with control system vendors in the areas of hardware, license, and system configuration.
  • Provide expertise and on-site programming in the overall integration of plant automation systems at the individual plant sites, including process control systems and development of appropriate standard practices, as a vital part of improving plant productivity.
  • Ensure all automation systems comply with industry standards and regulations and oversee quality assurance and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, making strategic decisions on automation projects and driving resolution of complex system-related issues.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, promoting the implementation of new technologies to improve automation systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project deliverables.
  • Ability to develop control system installation specifications.
  • Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule, and a man-hour budget for a small Controls & Automation project or an area for a larger project.
  • Ability to read and interpret PFD's, P&ID's, and instrument loop sheets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot I/O problems in the field using a multimeter.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software problems in the field.
Desired Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of developing and implementing Allen Bradley process control systems in phases, equipment modules, procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proficient knowledge of electric controls is mandatory.
  • Ability to create accurate controls hardware installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
  • Willingness to accept new opportunities for growth and development.
  • Be a self-starter and have the ability to work with little direction.
