Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals and active American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card is also required.Work Shift: Rotating weekdays, 4 days each week, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pmWork Location: Ladson Office ParkPrimary Function/General Purpose of Position The Breast Care Coordinator is the primary liaison for patients who require additional imaging following a screening mammogram. The Coordinator comforts patients by anticipating anxiety, answering questions, maintaining a kind and courteous manner, and respecting the patient's privacy. The Coordinator must be competent in performing duties as staff mammographer. The Coordinator assists leadership with maintaining daily operational functions as directed. Requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, knowledge, and confidentiality. Essential Job Functions The Breast Care Coordinator will coordinate, monitor, and assure the delivery of care to specific patients in the Breast Center to achieve identified outcomes. Professional approach with the ability to meet deadlines and quickly establish priorities. Must possess ability to perform administrative and scheduling duties. Demonstrate clinical knowledge by acting as a resource; work with providers and affiliated staff to create a team approach to breast care. Arrange and coordinate patient appointments for follow-up procedures following an abnormal screening mammogram. Communicates with patients, explains procedures, answers questions and explain results. Understand how scheduling patients can impact workload of techs and MDs. Keep Manager, Lead and Radiologist informed of add-on patients to ensure patient flow. Ensure appropriate handoff to the breast cancer treatment Breast Navigator. Plans for changes in care by participating in weekly meeting with staff and providers (Tumor board).Assist with communicating biopsy results to patients and clinicians. Inform patients of ongoing research program @ RSFH. Utilize formal and informal organizational structures across the system to develop and maintain effective working relationships with primary care, radiology, surgery, oncology, radiation oncology, pathology and any other specialties working in or referring patients to the breast care services program.Responsible for the Self-Referral program in the aspect of notifying patients and physicians when receipt of a result is declinedFacilitate ongoing recordkeeping and data tracking. Run reports daily. Responsible for reviewing results (BIRADs) in Radiant. Proficient in PACS/Epic/ Power share.Contributes to the development of professional practice standard. Provides input into technology needs to provide state of the art care.Act as a consultant and clinical resource to staff through provision of patient care and coordination of care. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing or pulling, up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Frequent exposure to risk of radiation. Intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Quiet to moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department. Skills Hard/Tech/Clinical Skills: Must have demonstrated ability to perform and teach Mammography exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images for interpretation.Knowledge of MQSA, OSHA, DHEC, FDA and TJC standards and regulations.Ability to operate standard office equipment.
