Lumen Lead Accountant - Hartford, Connecticut
The purpose of this job is to provide accounting technical support for the revenue accounting area including project management. The objective is to assist in making sure all revenues are being recorded accurately and timely as well as being the liaison for revenue accounting on various projects. The position will not only include accounting analysis and reporting, but it will also require project management and leadership skills. Month over month, quarter over quarter, and year over year variance analysis will also be an important part of duties.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop resolutions to complex accounting problems that require the frequent use of very high-level analysis.
Use judgment within broadly defined policies and practices.
May influence the company's strategic direction and contributes to the development of company objectives and principles.
Mentor and support team members to help meet monthly close deadlines while ensuring accuracy.
Communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers.
Process internal system revenue and credit accrual extracts in Oracle monthly.
Review non-recurring charge ensuring accuracy of recognition.
Analyze and prepare monthly journal entries.
Analyze and prepare monthly revenue variances for Controller Flash.
Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations in OneStream.
Prepare quarterly Deferred Roll Forward schedules for Disclosures.
Support audit functions for Internal/External/SOX Compliance.
Develop presentations for management and other internal stakeholders regarding financial results.
Create and/or maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all tasks performed and review SOPs to identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes.
Assist with Ad hoc analysis and research as needed.
What We Look For in a Candidate:
Extensive knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Minimum 5+ years of related experience.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision with a continuous improvement mindset.
Must have the ability to interact with various other groups and levels within the company.
Must have the ability to deal with large volumes of data and be savvy with various data systems and reporting tools.
2-4 years of experience working with large public company ($1B+ in revenue).
Advanced/Expert SQL, Access, Hyperion Essbase, Oracle, or similar database tools.
Preferred:
Certified Public Accountant.
Public accounting experience, Big-4 preferred.
Experience with SAP.
Experience in the technology industry.
