Reporting into the Engineering Supervisor, the Industrial Engineer will work on Lean and continuous improvement projects on the manufacturing floor. A successful Industrial Engineer will have experience with costing and quoting for products and have a strong understanding of labor and material flows.

My client is a privately owned, contract manufacturing company that makes customized products. This manufacturing site in New Hampshire is a start of the art facility that has roughly 200 employees.

Description

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Design and modify work centers to minimize material movement and enhance overall productivity.
  • Develop and implement improved material handling and dispensing methods to lower labor demands and reduce poor body mechanics.
  • Apply time and motion study tools to determine staffing needs and balance workloads across all positions within a work cell.
  • Establish standard operating procedures for each operator position by SKU or product family, ensuring documentation is easy to train to a diverse production team.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to create automation solutions.
  • Identify and adopt standard ergonomic assessment tools to enhance workstation design and minimize injury risk.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for product structure, including bills of material and manufacturing routings.

Profile

The successful Industrial Engineer will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineeringor a related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience; candidates beyond this range will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Process Engineering.
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as DMAIC, PGMEA, Six Sigma, and/or DOE.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with DMAIC, PFMEA, Solidworks, Tableau, Value Stream Mapping, 8D, and Process Mapping
