Summary These Senior International Trade Specialist positions are located in the International Trade Administration Enforcement & Compliance/Office of Trade Agreement Policy, Negotiations , within the Department of Commerce. Responsibilities As a Senior International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Guide and direct collaboration efforts with U.S. and foreign governments, other USG agencies and U.S. industry in order to oversee and help shape U.S. trade, economic and foreign policy. Create advanced written communications and messaging regarding U.S. government foreign trade. Plan, develop, and monitor assigned trade agreements, laws, and/or regulations and identify foreign trade problems. Apply strategies for investigating and resolving foreign trade problems for assigned areas. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Senior International Trade Specialist GS-1140-14 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. You must successfully pass a background investigation. Qualifications Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-14, the below specialized experience requirement must be met. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Completion of assigned U.S. Government trade actions, i.e., reviewed and assessed for relevance to foreign trade agreements, laws, and regulations. Resolving or minimizing trade problems via stakeholder and client engagement. Implementing trade policy goals, i.e., strategies, programs, and initiatives. Identifying U.S. industry objectives for assigned areas/tasks, including producing evaluations and actions plans. Education There is no positive education requirement for this position.
