SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

This position requires excellent demonstrated guest service, effective communication with guests and fellow employees as well as instrumental involvement with inside and outside work within several departments at our recreation area. Work may include but is

not limited to; lift operations, snowmaking, Adventure Park attractions, snow removal and an overall commitment to working as a team within Spirit Mountain. The Lead Outdoor Operations Attendant I must demonstrate competency and proficiency in the essential duties and responsibilities of the Outdoor Operations Attendant and Lead Outdoor Operations Attendant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As needed and directed, fulfill all essential duties and responsibilities of the Outdoor Operations Attendant and Lead Outdoor Operations Attendant. This may involve safely attending to the operations of ski lifts, mountain operations, snowmaking, mountain bike park, Adventure Park and attending to buildings and grounds.
  • Responsible for leading and assisting Outdoor Operations Attendants to successfully perform their essential duties and responsibilities while providing excellent guest service.
  • Function effectively with limited supervision at times while working independently and with others. Utilize various communication tools such as two-way radios, cell phones and computers to keep management informed of work progress, staffing levels, disciplinary issues, training and compliance issues, guest issues and more.
  • Proactively seek the support or guidance from management when needed.
  • Responsible for cash handling and assisting employees in obtaining register bank bags and ensuring all money and transaction records are secured properly at all times. Immediately notify the Operations Manager of any discrepancies or abnormalities.
  • Responsible for completing log sheets accurately and auditing operational log sheets to ensure completion and accuracy.
  • Assist in guest recovery with assistance and guidance of established policies and procedures. Contact management and/or the manager on duty for guidance, assistance or support.
  • Must attend work as scheduled and ensure other employees within the assigned department(s) attend work as scheduled. Inform management of any attendance or timeliness issues.
  • Assist in training new employees in accordance with training guidelines and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and imposed deadlines.
  • Safely operate ATVs, side-by-sides, snowmobiles, trucks and a variety of powered and non-powered tools and earth/snow moving machinery safely in accordance with company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist other departments as needed and contribute positively to the efficient, safe operation of the recreation area.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English in a fluent manner.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use of prosthetic device that will enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Must be able to work safely in a primarily outdoor work environment on rough, uneven snow and dirt covered surfaces.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions based upon standard policies and procedures, as well as use good judgment in day-to-day activities.
  • Must be reliable and flexible with the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and imposed deadlines.
  • Ability to use problems solving skills.
  • Ability to deal with hostile or emotionally upset customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Valid class D driver's license and acceptable driving record for company vehicle use.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the areas of lift operations, Adventure Park operations as well as summer and winter mountain operations, preferably as an Outdoor Operations Attendant, Outdoor Operations Attendant I or Lead Outdoor Operations Attendant II. Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience required. Internal and external experience may be combined.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with Spirit Mountain operations in winter and summer season.
  • A minimum of one year supervisory experience.
  • 3 years of directly related, or equivalent experience in the areas of Lift Operations, Adventure Park Operations as well as summer and winter mountain operations. Internal and external experience in multiple areas can be combined.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to be on your feet, lifting, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
