The Director, EHS will participate on the Wilmington Operations Leadership Team. They will report directly to the VP, EHSS, Sustainability, Facilities (global), with a day-to-day reporting line (dotted) to the site's Senior Director, Engineering & EHSS.ResponsibilitiesOversee the evolution of the Wilmington site EHS strategy including sustainability efforts; establish long term plans, collaborate with key stakeholders to establish annual goals and programs of work.Influence and collaborate with colleagues across site to embed a self-sustaining EHS culture. Sponsor, advance and evolve the site's behavioral risk program (CaRE®) and Human Organizational Performance (HOP) initiative.Lead the development of the site sustainability strategy, work closely with cross-functional leaders to progressively and cost-effectively reduce facility environmental impacts, including: reduced greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water use; reduced waste generation, and optimized recycling/ circularity; evaluation of nature-based solutions.Influence and coach colleagues across the site to enhance workforce engagement, ownership, and continuous improvement across EHS and sustainability considerations.Ensure compliance with relevant legislative (OSHA, EPA, permits) and corporate requirements.Routinely measure the efficacy of results through leading/ lagging metrics and internal audits; communicate lessons learned from investigations and other sources of information e.g., gap analyses, risk assessments. Oversee programs that reduce site EHS risk, including (but not limited to): process safety; flammable solvent handling; potent compound containment and handling; industrial hygiene; chemical and biological safety; occupational health.Coach and develop the site EHS team, implement individual development plans to enhance technical and soft-skills and facilitate career progression opportunities/ succession planning.Implement effective EHS and sustainability risk management methodologies for operations and projects at all scales, including (but not restricted to) new product/ equipment introductions. Instill a lifecycle-based gatekeeping approach for change management to ensure efficacy of identified risk controls. Oversee the resourcing and efficacy of site emergency and crisis management plans.In all areas of activity, seek to evaluate, implement and demonstrate best industry practice.
