Job DescriptionThe Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining EHSS programs to ensure the safety, health, and security of employees, visitors, and contractors. This role requires a strong understanding of EHSS regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct risk assessments and develop EHSS risk reduction plans.
- Implement EHSS program elements, including coaching and supporting efforts to improve supervisor and employee behaviors.
- Manage and conduct EHSS audits and worksite inspections.
- Monitor training compliance and provide reports to operational management.
- Deliver EHSS training and develop EHSS training resources.
- Develop and implement behavioral-based safety programs.
- Manage and assist with event investigations and reports.
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and developing corporate EHSS standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide EHSS due diligence for new business and EHSS support for project start-ups.
- Monitor and maintain EHSS data and review OSHA logs.
- Office environment with daily exposure to water plant environments, field visits with crews working on highway settings, and exposure to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level around heavy equipment and plant environments varies.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of related experience in EHSS compliance.
- Work experience in the construction industry, water and wastewater industry, laboratory, or other utility industry.
- Strong organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong writing, coaching, and teaching skills.
- Ability to balance changing and potentially conflicting priorities.
- Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and drive own work schedule.
- Ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
- Proficient knowledge of Google programs, including Sheets, Docs, Gmail, and Slides.
- Maintain specialized knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and industry consensus safety and environmental guidelines.
- Willing and able to work in the field with field staff evaluating, coaching, and supporting safety, health, security, and environmental compliance extensively.
- Must be available 24/7 to respond to and assist with EHSS incidents or emergencies.
- Willing to work extended work schedules as needed.
- Ability to wear all applicable Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
