POSITION SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including AP invoice processing, weekly AP payments, customer invoicing, cash receipt posting and various accounting functions in order to support the company's continuous growth and financial development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

  • Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
Accounts Payable
  • Enter invoices into the accounts payable system
  • Reconcile invoice and price/receiving discrepancies
  • Process invoice payments on a timely basis to maximize any discounts and/or cash flow.
  • Work with vendors to resolve invoicing and payment issues
  • File sales and use tax returns
  • Maintain 1099 records and process 1099s at year end
Accounts Receivable
  • Process daily customer invoices
  • Work with customers, internal customer support and shipping departments regarding invoicing, invoice adjustments, proof of deliveries or packing slip requests
  • Administer customer web portals for invoice submissions
  • Process daily cash receipts and post receivables into the accounts receivable system
  • Continuously monitor accounts receivable aging reports, contacting customers if necessary
OTHER JOB DUTIES (Not considered essential to the job)
  • Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education:
    • Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred
  2. Experience:
    • 3+ years of accounting experience required
  3. Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite)
    • Strong data entry skills
    • Self-directed, able to take initiative and exercise independent judgment
    • Must be a highly organized and self-motivated individual able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Willingness and ability to develop a working knowledge of Alexandria Industries' business and facilities in support of the Company goals and initiatives
    • Mature judgment and ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with professionalism
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with vendors and employees on a daily basis
