This position involves the supervision and management of department personnel, equipment, and facilities.Additionally, they are responsible for technical, managerial, and administrative functions. They are required to exercise judgment in carrying out work assignments and maintaining machinery and equipment. This position operates on a 7:00-5:00 schedule but is often on-call.ResponsibilitiesOrganize work schedules using CityworksOversee preventive and reactive maintenance programs related to water distribution and wastewater collection systemsEnsure ODEQ rules and regulations are followedCommunicate with the public, other agencies, and other City departmentsWork with the Assistant Superintendent to administer the Skill Based Pay training programAssist with administrative functions, such as direct purchasing, expenditures, correspondence, and researchAssist in the preparation of the annual budgetAssist with ordering and maintaining stockWork with the Assistant Superintendent in completing all performance management activitiesEnsure compliance with City and department policies, procedures, and safety rulesObtain either a class "D" Water Works Operator or Wastewater Works Operator license within 6 months of hireQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent3 years of related experience and/or trainingOr equivalent combination of education and experience2 years of management experiencePeople and/or project managementEither Class "B" Operator licenses from ODEQ:(wastewater line) Class "B" Wastewater Works Operator license(water line) Class "B" Water Works Operator licensePossess or be able to obtain a valid Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with Tanker and/or other required endorsements within six (6) months of employmentDriving record acceptable to City's insurance carrierNecessary SkillsAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility and willingness to travel to local or out-of-town meetings, conferences, or seminars, potentially using personal vehicle during work hoursAbility and willingness to be on-callAbility to meet the required physical standards for this positionAbility to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screeningsBenefitsGenerous benefits package including health, vision, and dental insuranceAccess to a dedicated primary care medical clinic at no cost to employees and covered dependentsGenerous time off, paid holidays, longevity rewards, and retirement benefitsPaid parental leavePotential for bilingual payA tangible impact to the Field Services Department and residents in the City of EdmondA dynamic and inclusive environment where your contributions are valuedAPPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED.The City of Edmond is an equal opportunity employer.
