Job Summary

The Staff Accountant’s primary function is assisting with general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations. This position provides any related service in reference to support for project accounting as needed. The position may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.

Responsibilities

General Ledger Prepare weekly and monthly entries for various accounts and activities. Research account activity and propose adjustments as needed. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual disclosure support. Responsible for monthly account reconciliations. Heavily involved in month-end close schedule and works closely with other staff to enter journal entries as needed to support the close calendar. Accounts Payable Assist in gathering and processing invoices. Assist with vendor inquiries and cost analysis. Accounts Receivable Assist in preparation of time and material billing. Enter accounts receivable billings as needed. Assist with customer inquiries and revenue analysis. Cash Management Responsible for daily cash transaction entries. Review and reconcile bank activity daily. Ad hoc reporting Various weekly and monthly reports to ensure accuracy of general ledger. As needed will create or modify reports to better inform operations staff. Audit support Internal and external audit support including research and gathering supporting documents.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in accounting

Preferred Qualifications

Previous construction accounting experience Intermediate Excel capabilities (lookups, pivots, formatting/filtering, etc.) Experience in Sage 300CRE software systems

Desired Characteristics

Demonstrates understanding of US GAAP accounting. Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgement, tact and discretion. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to communicate within an office environment as well with remote employees. Demonstrates strong analytical & critical thinking skills Desire to take on more responsibilities with gained experience Continuous improvement mentality
