The successful candidate for the Permitting Specialist role will provide environmental permitting support for projects located within Alaska. Specific responsibilities will include:

Creating standardized scopes of work for early stage permitting diligence activities necessary to ensure Federal, State, and local regulatory compliance.
Working with clients, project managers, and subject matter experts to advise on schedule and strategy for permitting needs.
Leading the strategy, application compilation, and application submittal of environmental assessments and permits.
Managing and overseeing external project environmental and permitting related consultants from scope of work creation, request for proposal issuance, request for proposal review and assessment, bid selection, purchase order creation, and completion of scopes.
Working with Construction and Project Management teams to ensure adequate permitting compliance and reporting.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to exemplary quality standards for professional practice and deliverables. Candidates must be able to work cooperatively with professionals from other disciplines, clients, project managers, business development professionals, and operational leadership.

Requirements:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
Public speaking skillscomfortable discussing complex topics in front of large audiences.
Vendor and contract management experience, including scope of work preparation, bid solicitation, and bid comparison analysis.
Able to demonstrate strong work habits, and successful collaboration with peers, management, and unaffiliated third parties.
Able to work independently within a team-oriented environment.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental technical writing, and Federal, State, and/or local permitting.
Experience in Alaska preferred.

Preferred Requirements:

Excellent writing and communication skills.
Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities.
Commitment to safety and quality procedures.
Local candidates are preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with National Environmental Policy Act preferred.
