Please Note: This position is a hybrid role, involving on-site work each week at our corporate headquarters in Concord, CA. Candidates who are fully remote or outside of reasonable commuting distance will not be considered at this time.

Responsibilities Manage and Oversee Daily Operations :

Reconcile various balance sheet accounts with meticulous analysis and investigation. Track the accuracy of expenditures on financial reports and provide commentary on budget vs actual analysis. Support with managing AP month-end and year-end close process, reconciliations, monthly accruals, analysis of accounts, etc.

Monitor and Analyze Accounting Data :

Regularly review and analyze accounting data to produce accurate financial reports and statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles. Create ad-hoc reports, as requested, to aid in real-time decision-making.

Establish Proper Accounting Methods :

Lead the monthly AP Close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete results. Provide commentary for management on financial reports, including variance analysis.

Collaborate with Senior Accounting Management :

Collaborate with Assistant Controller, and Controller to align accounting strategy with business objectives, enhancing overall operational performance. Participate in strategic meetings to provide financial insight and support business case development. Actively contribute to achieving financial goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders and driving accountability.

Audits and Compliance :

Ensure that all financial operations adhere to relevant financial rules and guidelines. Stay informed about new financial laws and guide the team through relevant changes.

Improve Systems and Procedures :

Optimize accounting systems and processes by identifying areas for improvement and initiative corrective actions. Identify and report on cost reduction opportunities and support the implementation of cost-saving initiatives. Maintain fiscal files and records by establishing organizational efficiencies.

Qualifications Professional Experience/Education :

3-5 years demonstrated experience as Senior GL Accountant or similar. Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, or a related field. Demonstrate strong leadership and critical thinking skills. Nice to have: Supervisory or Management Experience overseeing teams of accounting professionals.

Technical Skills :

Demonstrate advanced proficiency in MS Office, accounting software, and databases to manage financial data effectively. Possess the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets with precision.

Knowledge :

Strong understanding of best practices in Accounts Payable and comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Creative self-starter who can work effectively both independently and in collaborative settings.

Communication :

Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, presenting financial information clearly, and ensuring accurate reporting. Have a strong ability to communicate cross-functionally and in a timely manner to support organizational objectives.

Problem-Solving :

Exhibit strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to drive results and support business objectives. Capable of analyzing complex problems and developing practical, effective solutions.

Attention to Detail :

Be self-motivated and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all accounting tasks

The salary range for this position is expected to be $110,000/yr-$125,000/yr. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate's actual skills and experience.
