The role reports to the Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer and works closely and in alignment with the Business Development Managers and the Head of Communications. Responsibilities

Competitive Intelligence:
  • Contributes to the business development strategy by providing market intelligence expertise, market assessments, price forecasts, economic valuations, trend reports, dashboards and related analytics.
  • Providing analyses of competitive landscaping, including the Firm's performance and that of others in the market.
  • Advising proposal and pitch strategy based on market data, client needs, and competition insight.
  • Develops and maintains tracking systems while providing analyses of key competitors, top clients and targets, notable markets and geographies, and spots emerging competitive threats and trends.
  • Manages vendor relationships, internal marketing stakeholders and business teams where appropriate to ensure products are continuously fit for business purpose and providing appropriate collaboration.
  • Working alongside key stakeholders to implement competitive insight and analysis projects in support of practice, client and/or industry teams.
  • Identifying behavioral patterns and strategies by systematically synthesizing internal and external sources of information such as CRM data, RFP debriefings, Client Feedback, competitor communication, and market research, and developing recommendations and actionable insights from these findings for each Region, Strategic Program, or Line of Business.
  • Building expertise on key competitors and landscaping through individual learning and regular interaction with business development teams.
  • Working together with business development professionals, pricing and project management team members, technologists and others to integrate internal and external data into a holistic perspective of the firm's position and opportunities.
  • Establishing protocols and systems to identify opportunities, monitor competitors and anticipate trends that may impact clients or the firm.
Technology & Analytics:
  • Lead the department's data strategy to ensure proper programs are in place, appropriate databases are utilized, and the most valuable data sets are collected for optimal analyses.
  • Team with other internal departments to improve how the firm collects and uses information for better decision-making.
  • Provide strategic guidance on the marketing technology stack (including the firm's intranet).
  • Partnering with other business services groups within the firm to review and select the most effective and valuable databases and programs firmwide.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, and partners, to ensure we are leveraging our investments.
  • Analyze data collected and external data available to develop strategies across the firm.
  • Report and provide performance analysis on marketing activities across all channels.
  • Oversee the configuration, deployment, operation, and use of existing platforms, working with suppliers as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of direct experience in a professional services or law firm. Experience in legal marketing a plus.
  • Experience defining and overseeing organization-wide marketing technology rollouts and firmwide database/programming strategies.
  • The desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and the firm.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to learn the firm's financial and operational functions.
  • Previous experience in managing staff and overseeing their professional development. Proven ability to manage, coach, and mentor a diverse staff of varying levels and backgrounds.
  • Experience in project management, strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
