Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College, a private liberal arts college in the Benedictine Catholic tradition, seeks a part-time Circulation Desk Supervisor(s) to join their team. Currently shifts are available on Monday from approximately 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Saturday, from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. during the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesterswith the occasional option of other shifts as needed.

Job duties

The Circulation Supervisor is responsible for supervising all Circulation Desk operations during assigned hours. This person performs a variety of duties including: assisting library users (students, faculty, staff, guests) with a variety of Circulation Desk needs; supervising Circulation Desk student-assistants; monitoring building conditions and security; maintaining adherence to Circulation policies; working on special projects as assigned; and completing daily shift reports, and closing the library each evening and readying the building for use the next day. Additional hours may be possible throughout the year.

Required skills

•Exceptional level of attendance and dependability, including during

inclement weather

•Exceptional customer service abilities and interpersonal skills

•Ability to address patron concerns and difficulties with tact, courtesy, and sound judgment

•Ability to communicate effectively with college students and to supervise student workers

•Ability to work autonomously and successfully with limited direct daily supervision

•Strong office and computer skills and the ability to learn new procedures

•Reliability in performing daily tasks/duties as assigned

•Ability to consider occasional assistance with coverage of other shifts (optional)

•Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Required Experience

Associate's degree or 2 years of college plus 1 - 2 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and maturity.

Desired Experience

•Some supervisory experience

•Library Circulation Desk experience

•Experience working with automated library computer systems and/or contemporary interfaces.
