We are currently seeking a Engineering Field Technician to join our growing Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspections department.
Responsibilities
- Accurately perform inspections for various materials (e.g., soils, concrete, and asphalt) for industrial, commercial, residential, or municipal projects in accordance with applicable standards.
- Perform required testing per applicable ASTM and/or NCDOT testing methods.
- Read and interpret design drawings and construction specifications.
- Observe work procedures and verify compliance with job specifications.
- Create and submit accurate and detailed inspection reports and test data sheets.
- Interact and communicate with general contractors, site supervisors, architects, structural engineers, and client representatives.
- 2+ years of experience performing onsite inspections and testing of various materials.
- Working knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments.
- Proficient in the use of iPads, Microsoft Office, email, and OneDrive.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting, with an attention to detail and quality-minded focus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, raise hands above head, sit, climb and balance, and work in confined spaces and heights.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 90 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to walk over rough and uneven terrain and stand up to 8 hours on a normal day and up to 12 hours on occasion.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain ACI, ICC, and NCDOT certifications.
- A valid driver's license and ability to drive.
- Ability to pass a post-offer fit for duty test.
- Bilingual, English/Spanish is a plus.

- ACI / NCDOT Concrete Field Technician Level 1
- ICC Soils
- Hazmat Certification
- NCDOT Concrete Field
- NCDOT Intro to Asphalt
- NCDOT Nuclear Density
- NCDOT Erosion & Sediment Control
Individual will be working for the Durham or Raleigh office. The role involves working in various outdoor environments, including rough and uneven terrain. The individual must be able to stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces and heights, and lift heavy materials.
