Position Purpose

As part of Sleep Number's Corporate Communications team, the Communications Manager will be responsible for companywide communication strategies, with direction from the Communications Sr. Director, including:
  • Creating and executing comprehensive and integrated communication plans that align to company priorities and initiatives by driving engagement, cultivating culture, and creating a sense of belonging.
  • Leading the development of content across a variety of touchpoints primarily focused on internal channels.
  • Consistently communicating simple, authentic and transparent communications ensuring the right information is shared with the right audience at the right time.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Communication strategy: Manage the creation and execution of communication strategy for companywide initiatives. In partnership with stakeholders across the enterprise, lead the development of programs and messaging - with an enterprise mindset - to translate complex ideas into concise messages that educate, engage, inspire action, and thus deliver results.
  • Integrated communication planning and execution: Define and execute communication plans for major company initiatives, cyclical campaigns, and other communication opportunities that drive engagement, create behavior change, and thus contribute to Sleep Number's overall success, In partnership with members of the Communications team and cross-functional partners.
  • Communication counsel: Build relationships and collaborate with key internal partners, subject matter experts and leadership to provide communications counsel. Support senior executives on internal messaging aligned to major company priorities and initiatives.
  • Content management: Manage the editorial calendar and distribution logistics for companywide communications, and work with partners to identify opportunities to cross-leverage content internally.
  • Crisis communication: Support internal crisis communications and issues management efforts, including plan execution and immediate support at the onset of an incident and throughout recovery efforts.
  • Data and insights: Use new information, data and metrics to quickly enhance program design and delivery.
Position Requirements
  • 5+ years of communications, marketing, public relations and/or social media related background required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Integrated Marketing, Social Media, or Liberal Arts.
  • Strong professional writing skilla and verbal communication skills leading to clear and compelling messages and materials that drive engagement, manage change and create a sense of belonging.
  • Able to interact with leadership and influence decisions with tact and confidence.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing, results-oriented environment where priorities are constantly shifting.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and interpersonal skills.
