General Scope and Summary Q32 Bio is searching for an experienced professional to join our team as an Associate Director, Accounting (“Associate Director”). Our new Associate Director will be responsible for all aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close, assisting with SOX compliance and supporting the SEC reporting process.

The Associate Director will report directly to the Senior Director, Finance and SEC Reporting.

Role and Responsibilities Lead and continually develop a team of professionals through all month-end close processes, the payroll function, and accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks Review and approve account reconciliations and prepare reconciliations for certain balance sheet accounts Manage the payroll process, including stock-based compensation and the employee stock purchase plan, ensuring accurate and timely recognition in the Financial Statements Work with the Finance team to maintain appropriate accounting policies Ensure compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, including the maintenance of documentation, testing procedures, and remediation activities Assist with researching accounting requirements and implications for special transactions Stay current with new accounting standards and SEC regulations Support SEC reporting Along with SVP Finance and Sr. Director SEC Reporting Manager, interact with external auditors and consultants to support Quarterly Reviews, Annual Audits, and Tax Compliance Assist with the analysis of financial performance and assist in preparing the annual budget and subsequent forecasts

Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, with 5-7 years of combined relevant experience in public accounting, SEC reporting and corporate accounting/finance; specific experience in the biotech/life sciences industry is preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with “Big Four” or national accounting firm audit experience is preferred The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of accounting and associated procedures/processes Strong working knowledge of internal controls and risk assessment pertaining to finance, operations, and compliance Experience with NetSuite, FloQast and E*TRADE / Equity Edge Online is preferred Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as communication is a focal point for the Associate Director who will work closely with other members of the Finance Department, various business leaders/process owners, and external auditors as part of the Associate Director’s regular responsibilities Ability to positively and comfortably handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with focused attention to detail Executes to a high standard – acts with a sense of urgency, with the end result in mind and is able to follow through to deliver exceptional results. Improves continuously – taking an approach to continuous improvement; anticipates and addresses capability gaps to prepare for future challenges Prior supervisory/people management experienced preferred as the role has the potential to supervise 1-2 team members Can work independently to solve problems in an organized and thoughtful way Handles confidential financial information appropriately Self-motivated positive team player Ability to work from the Company’s Waltham, MA office 3 days per week
