We are looking for a Financial Controller. Our organization is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. Critical Tasks:
  1. Supervise, train, and develop accounting and finance staff, accounts payable staff, procurement staff, and 340B pharmacy analyst
  2. Manage month-end and year-end financial close process including reviewing all journal entries prepared by accounting staff, gl account reconciliations, and review of company financial statements as well as department and grant financial reports for correct coding and allocations
  3. Review and/or prepare revenue and expense accruals for month-end and year-end financial close process
  4. Effectively and consistently communicate administrative directive to staff and encourage interactive department cooperation
  5. Assist with the payroll process and ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner and correctly posted into the accounting system
  6. Review, analyze and ensure patient revenues, contract revenues, and all other revenues are recognized and processed in a timely manner and correctly coded and posted into the accounting system
  7. Supervise monthly grant billing & drawdowns on federal Payment Management System (PMS), monitor performances of funding sources, grant revenue accruals, monitor and record IHS 638 contract revenues, and grant revenue & expenditure allocations
  8. Oversee Grant budgeting and reporting, including preparation of SF-425 Federal Financial Reports (FFR)
  9. Oversee fixed asset accounting including property & equipment capitalization, disposition and depreciation process
  10. Review and/or prepare all property tax filings
  11. Oversee internal and external 340B pharmacy reviews and audits
  12. Prepared all financial data needed for Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Uniform Data System (UDS) annual reports and assist with HRSA site audits
  13. Provide the data and coordinate the preparation of the annual Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Cost Report filings by external consultants
  14. Gather statistical data and metrics for recording in the accounting system for reporting financial analytics, ratios and key performance indicators (KPI)
  15. Perform, maintain and assess admin, overhead and all other cost allocations for application to service locations and departments
  16. Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
  17. Organize, prepare, and coordinate all departmental annual Budgets with input from each department leader and manager and then consolidate them into the annual organization Budget for presentation to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  18. Prepare financial statements and other financial data and reports for presentation to the Board of Directors Budget Committee and to senior administration & department leaders
  19. Maintain and update accounting software as well as oversee the implementation of new software that supports the accounting software and the organization's needs
  20. Coordinate activities of external auditors including but not limited to the annual Financial Audit, Single Audit (Office of Management and Budget (OMB) A-133 audit), and Form 990 Tax Return
  21. Coordinate and supervise all cash management activities and track and record investment activities
  22. Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process
  23. Examine alternative methods of providing required accounting services in order to reduce departmental operating costs
  24. Maintain and monitor regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organizations
  25. Attend all Board of Directors finance committee and management meetings, and regular Board of Directors meetings as appropriate
  26. Assist in the preparation of and monitor compliance with policies and procedures regarding department fiscal operations
  27. Exercise all best efforts to ensure the most effective, efficient, and profitable financial operations of UNHS
  28. Perform additional duties, analysis and special projects as assigned including undertaking all reasonable and necessary tasks and actions to ensure the effective and efficient management of the organization
  29. Basic knowledge of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization standards and audit as well as HRSA OSV reviews
Requirements

Key Performance Indicators:

Required Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in financial accounting
  • Five (5) years of managerial or supervisory experience within an accounting work environment
  • Minimum of three (3) years working in a healthcare environment
  • Minimum of five (5) years working in a public accounting firm (Preferably with a national firm) with experience performing and leading Single Audit engagements
  • Knowledge and experience with Uniform Guidance requirements
  • CPA license, or ability to receive CPA license within two (2) years of hire
As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions.   • Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
  • Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
  • Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
  • Influenza vaccine for the current year.
  • COVID-19 vaccine
  • Any other vaccinations as requested.
