TITLE: Caf Clerk DEPARTMENT: Caf

STATUS: PT/FT, Clerk, Union, Hourly REPORTS TO: Caf Manager

JOB SUMMARY: To ensure the highest level of service possible to Outpost's internal and external customers. To ensure a clean, neat, and attractive appearance of caf area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced retail floor and kitchen. Work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. coffee/juice machines, slicer) and in cold/hot climate conditions (i.e. cooler or near stove). Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: computers, paging, telephones, human voices, and machinery.Position requires working during busy retail times, which include weekends, afternoons, and evenings.

Current shifts available include working a minimum of 4 days including one weekend day shift Saturday or Sunday:
  • 7am-1pm, 10am-4pm and/or 2pm-8:30pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Customer Service
  1. Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
  2. Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.
2. Caf Department Responsibilities
    1. Greet customers at counter and assist them in a timely manner.
    2. Handle customer question and complaints.
    3. Promptly serve customer's orders and check for and ensure customer satisfaction.
    4. Check out customer's purchases quickly and accurately, using correct prices, codes and departments.
    5. Provide samples and information of the products sold in the department.
    6. Follow proper procedures in opening, closing, and maintaining all caf areas including: deli station, bakery case, beverage station, and seating area.
    7. Ensure areas are kept clean and organized.
    8. Maintain a clean, organized, and rotated backstock.
    9. Follow sanitation guidelines with regards to food handling, serving, and storing.
    10. Stock service items, including china, paper products, packaging products, and miscellaneous items.
    11. Advise caf manager of equipment repair / replacement needs.
    12. Follow safety guidelines in regards to lifting, knife handling, equipment operation, etc.
    13. Prep ingredients for production.
    14. Backup caf kitchen staff when needed.
    15. Attend department meetings as scheduled.
3. All Staff Duties
  1. Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents.
  2. Keep store orderly and clean.
  3. Maintain a positive attitude.
  4. Perform all other duties as assigned by department manager or supervisory staff.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching
  • Use hands or fingers to handle or feel
  • Specific vision ability: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
  • Regular use of sharp cutting instruments
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
