Location: Miami, Florida US Citizenship: Required Type: Contract to Hire Hours: 40 hours per week, except Federal holidays. If overtime is needed, overtime shall only be performed with the prior approval of the manager and in accordance with company procedures. Telework may be authorized on this task order with advance COR authorization. Job Duties: Ability to review and analyze data and information from multiple sources and perform data entry duties, including using databases like Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS), Pacer, etc. to search for defendant’s criminal history in other state and federal court systems. Gathering all necessary documents related to older cases and analyzing the facts of those cases, including collecting evidence, reviewing, organizing, and bate-stamping it. Drafting an index in MS Excel of all documents produced with the bates ranges. Performing legal and factual research using other legal research facilities, including Lexis Nexis and Westlaw to conduct research in case-specific legal issues and drafting pleadings incorporating case law. Working knowledge of court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources, including understanding local rules for filing pleadings conventionally, via Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF), and/or when to file ex parte pleadings on sealed cases. Producing a variety of written documents utilizing advanced word processing software functions, working from handwritten drafts, edited copies, or electronic files created by another staff member. This includes gathering case information and creating PowerPoints for presentations and spreadsheets with the reviewed data. Making recurring and special messenger trips as necessary, answering telephone calls, referring callers to staff members, or taking messages as appropriate. This includes adding court hearings and motion deadlines to MS Outlook calendars, contacting witnesses and scheduling their travel to the district where the trial will occur, following up on prisoner movement status, and coordinating expert witnesses' trial testimony schedules. Required Qualifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location. Three years of experience on major litigation support projects or an undergraduate degree. Requires hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, data processing environments, office automation networks, PC-based databases, and other applications, internet and server-based databases, and other applications, such as Oracle, Relativity, or other document review platforms, Trial Director, etc. Must have experience conducting legal research utilizing WestLaw or Pacer. Should be a knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
