Position DetailsThis position is responsible for running a variety of equipment including, horizontal drills, excavators and dump trucks. The individual in this position is required to work at all time with safety in mind.Responsibilities:Safely operate directional drill rigsResponsible for overall site and crew safety and must exhibit and uphold Tilson's safety valuesForeman must have the ability to Locate/Operate, trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops. Locate & verify all utilities before construction using multiple methods.A demonstrated working knowledge of telecommunications construction: familiarity with Horizontal Directional Drills; ability to use cable placement equipment and tools and the ability to identify and troubleshoot problemsIndividuals must be able to read prints and have knowledge of the underground processManage the build schedule/timelineResponsible for running a variety of equipment including but not limited to; all types of Directional Drills, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) and locators, various types of Trucks, Excavators, Forklifts, Dump trucks, etc.Serve as single point of contact with company crews, and inspectorsAble to work in all kinds of outdoor working conditionsQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent preferredStrong work ethic and desire to be a leaderEffective communication skills and a positive attitudeThe ability to manage and direct construction crewValid US Driver's License with no major violations in last 3 yearsAble to work in a fast-paced environmentThe ability to work safely, with or without supervisionAbility to operate equipment, including, but not limited to directional drills, locating systems, trencher, backhoe, excavatorsPreferred Qualifications:Minimum 3 years operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch)Minimum 3 years of leading an underground crewMinimum 5 years OSP experienceOSHA 10/30Experience leading crew membersClass A CDL is a plusPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson's driving eligibility requirements.Tilson offers a comprehensive benefits package with a focus on choice, health, wellness, and financial security.
