Assistant Town Clerk

The Town of Sharon is seeking applicants for the full-time position (37.5 hours/week, plus elections and Town Meetings) of Assistant Town Clerk. Under the direction of the Town Clerk, the Assistant Town Clerk provides clerical and administrative support for the Town Clerk's Office, including keeping official municipal records, vital records, issuing licenses, street lists and permits, conducting research, assisting with election proceedings, and providing various services within the office. They are responsible for providing high quality customer service, ensuring that the office's daily operations are executed in a timely and accurate manner, and for completing various improvement projects as assigned by the Town Clerk.
Qualifications and Experience:
Working knowledge of state statutes and by-laws relating to the duties and responsibilities of a Town Clerk is desirable. Excellent computer and customer service skills required. Three years' experience in related public sector/customer service experience preferred. An Associate's degree in a relevant field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must be a Notary Public or the ability to become a Notary Public after hire.
Starting Salary:
$56,100, increasing on 10/1/24 to $57,220, with excellent benefits and opportunities for overtime during election and town meeting periods.
