Through an engaging and supportive environment, all our students are challenged, inspired, and poised to excel.Job Description / Essential Elements: JOB TITLE: Custodian IJob Purpose Statements/s: The job of "Custodian I" is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility; providing adequate arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure; and performing other related work as required.Essential Job Functions:* Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, activities and events.* Cleans school facilities (i.e. classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.* Delivers variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate parties.* Advises students, other site personnel and other facility users for the purpose of providing information regarding activities, safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities.* Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at work site.Other Job Functions:* Repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.* Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items as needed to properly maintain facilities.* Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.Essential Job Requirements - Qualifications:* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to use cleaning agents/chemicals and equipment; communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, parents, and school administrators; perform basic reading andmath required for safe/ accurate use of cleaning agents/chemicals, perform multiple tasks of non-technical nature.Knowledge of methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies; safe work practices.Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, follow oral and written instructions, writing skills to keep work records and reports, use basic math to estimate time and materials, adhere to safe work practices, work independently with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks, adjust to flexible assignments often with short notice, make decisions and improvise as required to meet demand of heavy evening facility usage, and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping, reaching/handling, near/far visual acuity/depth perception.* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:Valid Driver's License, DMV (H-6) Printout, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Health Physical Examination, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance.Requirements / QualificationsValid Driver's License RequiredComments and Other InformationOUR DISTRICT ACCEPTS APPLICATION ON-LINE THROUGH EDJOIN (www.edjoin.org) ONLY. School Site: San Marcos Middle School Hours per day: 3.75 hours per day Number of work days: 12 months per year Anticipated working hours: 6:00 pm - 9:45 pm Employees new to the District are allowed salary schedule placement credit for up to two (2) years of previous experience with a maximum salary schedule entry placement for step three (3).
