Job Title: Back Office Medical Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a professional and experienced Back Office Medical Assistant for a specialty doctor in Irving. The ideal candidate will be highly efficient, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The role involves a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support physicians and ensure smooth patient care.
Responsibilities
+ Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
+ Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
+ Obtain necessary patient records required by the physician prior to treatments or procedures.
+ Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
+ Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
+ Maintain disinfection protocols in all exam/treatment rooms.
+ Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
+ Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RNs.
+ Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows.
+ Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested.
+ Enter orders under a providers direction and supervision.
Essential Skills
+ Bilingual in Spanish and English.
+ Experience with EMR systems, specifically Athena, but familiarity with eClinical, Epic, etc., is beneficial.
+ Certification as a Medical Assistant (open to candidates with expired certifications if they have relevant experience).
+ CPR/BLS certification.
+ 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare processes.
+ Experience with vital signs, patient care, charting, and rooming patients.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in a specialty or oncology clinic is preferred.
+ Skilled in both back and front office tasks, including insurance verification, copays, referrals, scheduling appointments, and triage.
+ Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
+ Ability to multitask and perform well in a fast-paced clinic setting.
+ Strong organizational and data entry skills.
+ Highly polished and professional demeanor.
Work Environment
The clinic operates in a very fast-paced environment, primarily dealing with adult patients. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekend shifts. Employees enjoy a 30-minute lunch break during which clinic phones are turned off to allow staff to unplug. The team-oriented environment offers long-term growth opportunities and regular feedback sessions.
