The City of Port Townsend is recruiting to fill one opening in the Facilities division of our Public Works Department. The vacancy will be filled at either the Maintenance Worker Apprentice, Maintenance Worker, Operator I, or Operator II level depending on experience.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair and operations to various City facilities, to ensure that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, custodial, carpentry, painting, HVAC operations, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs maintenance and repair activities to City facilities including painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and concrete work
- Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor
- Operates a variety of tools and equipment including bucket truck and power tools when needed to accomplish tasks
- Performs custodial duties including restroom cleaning, emptying garbage and recycle cans, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
- Cleans and maintains facilities to acceptable standards
- Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisors
- Maintains basic record keeping of purchases and work activities
- Assists with development and implementation of safety programs
- Other duties as assigned
$25.61-29.09 base pay range
$25.61-32.58 total pay range including maximum possible longevity
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months in this position
- Traffic Control and Flagging certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months in this position
- Experience working with basic hand tools and power tools
- Experience using a maintenance management software program
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- GIS and GPS mapping experience
$26.48-30.27 base pay range
$26.48-33.90 total pay range including maximum possible longevity
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Washington State driver's license and the ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months in this position
- Traffic Control and Flagging certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months in this position
- Preferred 2 years' experience in facilities or related field
- Experience working with basic hand tools and power tools
- Experience using a maintenance management software program
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- GIS and GPS mapping experience
$32.21-36.44 base pay range
$32.21-36.08 total pay range including maximum potential longevity
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- At least 3 years of experience working in facility maintenance or related field
- Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) or equivalent Backflow Certificate or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager
- Certified Pool Operators License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager
- First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain within the first 12 months in this position
- Traffic Control and Flagging certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months in this position
- 5+ years' experience working in facility maintenance
- Experience working with basic hand tools and power tools
- Experience using a maintenance management software program
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- Journeyman Certification in HVAC
- Journeyman Certification in Electrical
- Journeyman Certification in Plumbing
- GIS and GPS mapping experience
$34.50-39.18 base pay range
$34.50-43.88 total pay range including maximum potential longevity
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- Certified Pool Operators License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager
- Boiler Operators License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager
- Certified Building Operator Certification II or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being in this position
- At least 8+ years of experience working in boiler, HVAC, electrical, janitorial and facility maintenance
- First Aid/CPR certification or must obtain within 1 year of being in this position
- Flagger Training Certification within the first 6 months in this position
- Considerable experience working with facility maintenance equipment and devices such as volt meters and pressure gauges
- Considerable experience using a maintenance management software program
- Attended a WCIA management school or equivalent supervisory training program
- Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level I
- Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) or equivalent Backflow Certificate
- Journeyman Certification in HVAC
- Journeyman Certification in Electrical
- Journeyman Certification in Plumbing
- Building systems software experience
This position requires being onsite working indoors and outdoors during all types of weather; repeated walking, bending, stooping and lifting; the ability to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.; vision and hearing at level required to perform essential functions (may be corrected); and a full range of motor skills.
