seeks a Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Evergreen Park, IL. Duties: Assist mgmt in overseeing & directing work of tech personnel engaged in performing various routine & complex lab tests. In doing so, establish work priorities, organize, assign work to lab employees, & conduct daily surveillance & analysis of results on all shifts for accuracy. Performs more complex and-or non-routine testing procedures & regularly checks validity & accuracy of test results obtained by lab personnel. Performs the duties of lab tech personnel on a regular basis. Independent judgment & professional ed & certification are req’d. Perform req’d quality control & calibration procedures. Verifies accuracy in patient info & specimen acceptability. Testing performance & assessment includes the pre-analytic, analytic, & post-analytic phases of such exams. Provide feedback for employee performance reviews. Perform instrument maint/troubleshooting procedures & resolves or assists employees in solving complex problems related to instrumentation and/or procedures. Notify appropriate person (i.e., manager, supervisor, risk manager, etc.) of problems related to equip/product defects, & important info encountered in dealing with physicians, patients, visitors, or other personnel. May collect & process patient specimens from all patient age groups. Function as a tech resource. Provide theoretical info & bench instruction to employees and/or students. Disseminate professional knowledge, info on current trends, & case studies to employees and/or students. Develop new procedures as req’d to increase quality of lab results, reduce costs, and/or increase effectiveness of staff & section. Test new procedures & assist in implementation. Conduct eval & implementation of new lab equip & instrumentation. Update section policy & procedure manuals & meets & works with staff to keep them informed, trains employees & demonstrate new procedures. May be responsible for inventory control, monitoring to assure uninterrupted lab services, & researching costs & conservation of supplies. Conduct & complete various proficiency surveys, coordinates the collection of quality control & assurance data as well as survey data & prepares req’d reports. Review data to identify trends & problem areas & propose corrective actions if req’d. Work to resolve deficiencies in order to meet regulatory guidelines & may prepare a report on findings. Initiates the collection of performance improvement data & evaluates results. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Clinical/Medical Technology or Lab Science or related life-science field.
