Expected compensation for this role is $35.97 per hour, with actual pay determined by individual experience, skills, and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Technologist I is responsible for conducting a variety of routine and advanced clinical laboratory assessments in accordance with established protocols. This role is crucial for generating accurate data essential for diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
Key responsibilities include evaluating test results for precision, performing regular preventative maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment, and addressing minor troubleshooting issues. The role may also involve blood specimen collection and training of new personnel and students. Independent judgment, along with professional education and certification, is essential for success in this position.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science is required. Successful completion of the ASCP or AMT Board of Certification CLS examination within the first year of employment is mandatory. Alternative degrees may be accepted if the candidate has completed the ASCP or AMT CLS certification exam prior to employment. Ongoing certification maintenance according to the relevant certifying agency's guidelines is required.
Experience:
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals. The candidate should demonstrate a high level of professionalism and the ability to perform competently in high-pressure situations.
Applicants must possess the academic, technical, and clinical expertise needed to assess, troubleshoot, research, and resolve everyday challenges or special projects assigned by laboratory management.
