Clarify specifications. Document competitive bidding. Coordinate and evaluate engineering changes regarding new products and modification to existing products to guarantee that all outside purchased items meet necessary specifications. Analyze and manage the purchase order life cycle and initiate process improvement projects as required. Initiate and lead system enhancement projects. Make cost reduction recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic computer knowledge, legal aspects of purchasing. Ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives and other personnel by phone, in person, or through written communication. Work under pressure in a detailed and organized manner. Assimilate information to make decisive decisions. Able to work in a team environment. Able to work with minimal supervision. Strong business acumen. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be classified as a commodity (or product line) expert.
