The Director of Engineering is responsible for the management and supervision of the project, manufacturing and process engineering teams to ensure customer expectations are met by providing cost effective, innovative solutions for their products. Serve as a member of the senior leadership team tasked with development and execution of McDonald Plastic Molding's (MPM) strategic plan. Requires excellent technical engineering knowledge coupled with program management and business planning expertise in the injection molding industry.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for injection molding & assembly process development, project management and delivery of customer approved production tooling to manufacturing.
  • Optimize the application of technology and engineering resources for product and process development which meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Ensures timely delivery of customer requested quotes that provide cost effective, innovative solutions.
  • Overall responsibility for achieving project objectives on time and within budget through utilization of MPM's advanced product quality planning process.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives which add value to MPM's customers and support operational excellence goals.
  • Apply a focus on innovation and design for manufacturing when leading product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of MPM corporate manufacturing processes; makes and implements improvements in safety, quality and efficiency to reduce costs.
  • Tracks cost savings of implemented projects and efficiency improvements.
  • Responsible for tooling and automation vendor selection and management.
  • Identifies and develops business cases for capital investments in automation, new process technology, etc.
  • Leads & develops the engineering teams in all areas, including providing guidance, direction and actively promote the professional growth of the engineering team.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Provides training and mentoring of the engineer co-workers, as needed.
  • Perform all job duties with a positive, collaborative, and encouraging attitude


Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or Industrial Technology; greater than (7) years of engineering work experience: Minimum of 5 years in a management position. Must have excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization and have a demonstrated track record of results and increased responsibility throughout career. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
