We are looking for an Experienced part time Coder for our Pediatric Office(s) in South Riding, Virginia for 20 hours per week. After an orientation period in office this position may be considered for remote work. Our Pediatric office is a GREAT PLACE to work offering excellent benefits such as: Paid Time Off and Partial Holidays.RequirementsPURPOSE: The Charge Entry Specialist position is responsible for reviewing charges and scrubbing claims through the careful review of source data provided by Trusted Doctors providers. They also ensure the accurate recording of demographics including insurance entry and verification.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Timely review of demographics, charges and time of service payment information•Expert ability to review specific data such as modifiers, based on payer specific policies, including HCPC, CPT, and ICD-10 code and date of injury (DOI)•Knowledgeable to append modifiers based on payer specifics, insurance and authorization requirements and referring physicians' unique attributes•Reduce denials by correct use of modifiers, mapping, and linking codes with services•Ability to successfully track and follow up on information requests to and from the providers.•Work with providers and practices to facilitate information and resolve charge questions•Achieve goal of a 48-hour turnaround review time•Responsible for resolving any rejections and reviewing query responses from the practices•Complies and enforces all policies and procedures related to the position, the department and the company•Achieve goals set forth by supervisor regarding error-free work, transactions, processes and compliance requirements•Other duties as assignedEXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:•High School Diploma or GED•1-2 years of experience in same/related field•Coding Certificate requiredESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:Technical: Extensive knowledge on use of email, search engine, Internet; ability to effectively use payer websites. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Products: Outlook, Word, Excel. Preferred experience with eClinical Works.Personal: Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language; highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail; team-oriented, collaborative; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Communication: Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from employees and clients. Ability to speak clearly and to make effective and persuasive arguments and presentations.Math & Reasoning:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use critical thinking skills to apply principles of logic and analytical thinking to practical problems.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This is primarily a sedentary office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Clear speaking voice is necessary, as well as finger dexterity to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator, and to operate standard office equipment. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports and records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.This job description is intended to provide only basic guidelines for meeting job requirements.
